Surgery Day: Evening Update

"I have 25 text messages. I've never had that many messages!"

Kate made it to recovery around 4:00pm after 6.5 total hours in surgery. She was feeling a lot of pain initially. We're really not sure if the nerve block worked or not, but the dilaudid they pushed by IV certainly did! It's been a hard day, but so far it seems things have gone about as well as they could possibly go. The staff at UC Health have been great, and we continue to be grateful for all the mercies along the way.

Kate is in her room now, has ordered a light dinner and is resting comfortably -watching the World Cup while dozing a bit. Ethan and Andrew are picking up dinner and on their way to visit. Either Kristen or I will stay with her overnight, and the plan is for her to go home tomorrow.
