Surgery Day: Midday Update

It's just after 1:30pm so Kate's been in surgery for about four hours now. I just got a call from Dr. Murphy, her primary surgeon, with an update. She said she finished the mastectomy about 25 minutes ago, and everything went well. She stayed in the operating room to observe the evaluation of the skin viability for implants by the plastic surgeon. She said that they determined that the skin health was good and they are proceeding with the implant part of the surgery now. This is a BIG answer to prayer! Please continue to pray for:

• The plastic surgery team: They'll be about another ninety minutes doing the reconstruction and closing. Pray everything goes well.
• The nerve block: Pray that the nerve block holds up and Kate's pain coming out of surgery is minimal.
• The biopsy report: Dr. Murphy indicated everything went well collecting the lymph nodes and they will be sent along with the breast tissue removed to pathology.

Live updates:

• 3:45pm - The plastic surgeon called to let us know he just finished. Everything went smoothly with the reconstruction. She's heading to recovery and will be there for a couple more hours.
• 4:15pm - Just a note to continue praying for the effectiveness of the nerve block ask Kate comes out of anaesthesia.
